Today's Marvelous Custom was done by
Hunter R who has created a
Captain Britain figure. Here is what Hunter had to share for this Marvelous Custom.
- When speaking of Cap, most people would think of Captain America. People seem to forget another Cap, Captain Britain. He is leading New Excalibur, a team of mutants to protect his motherland, England.
As you all noticed that ToyBiz did release a Captain Britain figure in the Marvel Legends Giant Man Series. Frankly speaking, I am not satisfied with that figure at all. It came with his old costume & it has a poor body proportion. So I decided to customize a Captain Britain in his modern age New Excalibur costume by Michael Ryan. In fact, this is my all-time favorite Captain Britain costume.
The figure was based on ML Series 12 Iron Fist and FF Movie Mr. Fantastic.
Here's how it was done.
First of all, I took out the desired figure parts, the Upper body of Iron Fist and Mr Fantastic's Lower body & hands. And then I merged them together with instant glue. In order to improve the body proportion, I cut off his thigh and applied Tamiya Epoxy Putty (3mm) to make him look taller.
For the body accessories, I used the PVC outer sheath of a shield wire to make the thicker line (Yellow color in the pic). The thinner line was made with some twisty tie wire from toy packing and used Tamiya Epoxy Putty to make the mask, belt and boot buckle. My attention was distracted because of the different plastic color on the detail parts, therefore, I sprayed whole figure with the surfacer (Mr. Surfacer 1200)
The Lion Logos on both shoulder were sculpted by me with Tamiya Epoxy Putty, which was the longest process throughout the entire project. Then I polished the whole figure with water proof abrasive papers (1000Cw & 1200Cw).
I applied the white surfacer (Mr. Surfacer 1000) on the entire figure before painting the figure, and sprayed the flat base (Gunze Sangyo Topcoat Flat) to seal the figure. After the flat base was dry, I begun to paint the figure with Red (Mr. Color 79), Blue (Mr. Color 110) and Dark Grey (Mr. Color 333). Then I started to do the final touch up for his face and other accessories. And last but not least, I sprayed the Mr. Super Clear Flat for protection & seal the paint.

double dealer`s cap is awesome two, u should check it out. I don`t like the mask, cause it doesn`t look like spandex, or stuck to the skin. But it looks nice.
great custom! awesome WIP pics!
Really great custom! :)
Thanks for sharing HOW you did it!
Kickass costume which one is it specifically?
Overall a pretty darn cool custom, though I was never a fan of those over-sized deltoids.
