Figure:
There are multiple differences between this and the original (and Takara re-releases). The gun included with this one isn't "chrome", the shoulder cannon is extended at the back, and the missiles have been completely re-designed into something that has been defined as both "on viagra" and "penile projectiles". Finally, the decals included with this one say "Meister" where the original would have said "Martini" (e.g.. on the doors and above the grill) and "Agent Meister" instead of "Martini Porsche" across the windshield. One can only assume that this change is due to licencing problems as well as the possible issue of avoiding an alcohol reference. While many will be disappointed by these differences, I accept them as a small sacrifice in order to have the opportunity to own this figure. Besides, if this was a new toy and you could get both versions these differences would make for a "valuable" (add your own sarcasm here) variant and everyone would be clamoring to get their hands on one.
Value:
Thirty bucks! This is a lot of money to spend on such a small toy. Wasn't the "Hot Rodimus" re-issue only $17.99? Extortion!!!!!
This being said, I HAD to have this figure! I never had Jazz as a kid, and of course he was always one of my favorites. Scatman Cruthers (sp?) brought to this character so much charm and downright coolness in the cartoon, and a race-tuned Porsche is just about the slickest car any robot could hope to transform into. I still have an old Marvel Transformer comic in which Jazz refuses to transform and join the others until a Madonna song he is listening to finishes. We've all waited to get out of our cars until a favorite song ends, but only Jazz would wait to Transform out of his car mode until the tunes end. And only Jazz could get away with it!
Unfortunately at these prices I will buy only the ones I must have and cannot live without. Sorry Blue - umm, er -"Silver"streak! Too bad Thundercracker! So sad Spark Attack Prime! (I'll just wait and hope these go on clearance. I don't seem to be the only one who feels this way, judging by the amount of all of these guys still on the shelf!)
