Superhero Showdown Juggernaut and Juggernaut Variant Review By Oroku Saki
Marvel
by Jay Cochran
August 23, 2006
Sculpt;
Standard Figure;
The standard Superhero Showdown Juggernaut features a very impressive sculpt. At first it seems like a scaled down ML6 Juggernaut, however this sculpt is far superior and 100% brand new. No giant out of place belt buckles here; it is comic accurate right down to the boots. This version of juggernaut is in his classic colors and features a screaming head sculpt. The helmet is not removable.
Variant;
The variant Juggernaut features a closed mouth head sculpt, a different helmet and a slightly different skin tone. The helmet is not removable. The costume on the variant is all the same color (light brown) and features a silver wash upper body with a black wash lower body. Not that impressive, the standard figure costume scheme is far superior.
Articulation;
The SHS line features articulation that rivals Marvel Legends figures. Both Juggernaut figures feature 30 points of articulation, which lets you pose them in any way you can think of. Some of the nice articulation features are as follows; wrist articulation (unlike series one of SHS) and finger articulation in one hand allowing other figures to be picked up.
The main problem most people had with series 1 and 2 were loose joints on their figures. So far I have noticed that this series does not have that widespread problem. Most if not all of the figures in this series should have tight joints like ML figures.
Accessories;
Standard Figure; Juggernaut comes with a brown flight stand, 1 missile launcher, 6 trading cards (3 specific to Juggernaut) and 1 random giant location card.
Variant;
The variant includes a silver flight stand, 1 missile launcher, 6 trading cards (3 specific to Juggernaut) and 1 giant random location card. It is interesting to note that the trading cards included with the variant feature the Juggernaut in his Black/Gold costume. This is due to the fact that the variant paint scheme was originally planned to be the more peaceful Juggernaut in the Black/Gold costume.
Paint Application;
The paint application on the figures I selected are almost perfect, however others I saw were not as good (especially other characters). They were by no means terrible, but for the price of these figures they should definitely increase quality control.
Overall the standard Juggernaut is probably the best representation of Juggernaut ever produced, and a definite asset to the Superhero Showdown line. There is nothing else I could ask for that could improve this figure. The variant on the other hand, although a nice figure, is just not as menacing as Juggernaut should be and features a dull costume with odd shading.
