Marvel Legends Series 7 Hawkeye

Marvel Legends Series 7 Hawkeye

Package Description
Clint Barton's parents were killed in an automobile accident, and the youngster was placed in a state orphanage. At 14, Barton ran away to join a traveling carnival, where he was tutored by the Swordsman. For years, Barton practiced with the bow and arrow. Soon, he became a good enough trick-shooter to perform professionally under the name Hawkeye the Marksman. Witnessing Iron Man in action, Barton attempted to emulate the hero by donning a colorful costume and employing his archery skills to fight crime. Weeks later, Barton's attraction to the Black Widow led him to actually commit criminal acts. Hawkeye knew deep down he had strayed from his quest to become a hero. When he approached the Avengers, Iron Man sponsored his membership on the team. Hawkeye lives life on the edge, straddling the fine line between right and wrong with a battle-ready swagger that masks an inner struggle for acceptance. For years he served as a valued member of the Avengers, his archery skilled complimenting his associates' superhuman powers.

Hawkeye has a neat design which transfers well to plastic. There's a lot of details on this figure. Unlike the Captain America of series one, the scales of his uniform were sculpted in. His armbands, gloves, and tunic also have details. The overall level of detail on this figure is superb. Also included is six different types of arrows, including one with Ant Man riding his arrow (from the comic included with Hawkeye).

Unfortunately Hawkeye is a little short for 6'3". So much so that he's shorter than Black Widow. He's just about the same size as Face-Off Iron Man. He is well proportioned though. The arm joints are a little noticeable, but other joints blend right in with the uniform. The only problem with him is the face. He looks a little too sad for Hawkeye. The face also happened to be a little smashed on mine, but it's not a widespread problem. He's also a little bowl legged, but it's not noticeable in a shooting pose.

Overall, he fits in fairly easily with other Marvel Legends. The glider he comes with looks a bit silly, so I generally don't use it. The only things that tend to set him apart in a crowd are the ball shoulders which stick out, as well as the sad face. The right pose can draw attention away from those things though.

Hawkeye has pretty standard articulation for Toybiz figures. He has double jointed shoulders and elbows, and ball joints. There are cuts for wrist and boot rotation. His torso doesn't bend a lot, but on his other joints he gets the full range of motion. The bow can also be pulled back to shoot arrows, and for what it's worth the quiver can be removed.

He sits a little awkwardly on the glider, but that shouldn't be a problem unless you're absolutely determined to pose him on it. It's also hard to balance his arrows on the bows and make them sit properly. With work though, it can be done. His balance is ok, and he fits in alright with a crowd. Overall, it's actually his face that disappoints the most, because Hawkeye just shouldn't look sad.

Final Judgment: 7
There's not a whole lot that I would change on this figure, only the face sculpt. A better way to do the arrows would be nice too, like small magnets in the bow and arrows to help the arrows stay on the bow. But overall Hawkeye is a great figure to have. The only real reasons that the score is a 7 instead of a 6 though are because of all the accessories and details in the sculpt. Nevertheless, with no other Hawkeye in the works, this figure is still a must have for Avengers fans.
