His first foes were the Stone Men from Saturn even. Thor is a Cosmic character he just uses Ancient Mythology as his basis, instead of standard spaceships and rayguns

He has lots of adventures traveling the cosmos. Actually, Thor blood and thunder is one of my favorite runs from his books.
