IESB.net is reporting that the character of Donald Blake, Thor's often human alter-ego has been added to the end of the script for Marvel's 2010 release of the Thor movie. According to the article, because most of the movie takes place in the land of the Norse Gods, adding Blake is how they will explain Thor coming to Earth so that he can then be used for the Avengers movie that will be released in 2011.
The introduction of the character is essential to how Marvel will tie Thor into the Avengers that is set in contemporary Tony Stark/Hulk timeframe. It explains how the actual Thor film will be set in the ancient time of the Norse Gods and how they will subsequently bring the character into a modern time with Donald Blake discovering the magical Norse hammer Mjolnir and turning into Thor.
Thor is slated to be released in theaters on July 16, 2010 and The Avengers a year later on July 15, 2011.
