Marvel Entertainment’s Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, Peter Cuneo spoke at the Gabelli & Company’s Inaugural Movie Conference in New York City today. In his presentation he mentioned that Marvel is no longer interested in doing R rated films. As they put it, R rated movies are “off-strategy” for them and that they only want to do what they call “Triple Threat” movies. Movies that allow them to make money not only from the movie but from other licensing venues like toys and video games. I’m sure the lackluster box office performance of their last R rated movie, “Punisher War Zone” has something to do with this line of thinking as well.
Mr. Cuneo also mentioned that they are looking at possibly doing movies in 3-D sometime in the future, but that the added cost to do a movie in 3-D now is not something they wish to take on.
i wish punisher move arent rated R ill never see it till im the age over 18 or 16 dang id be in high school or something to see it
Just need to be 17 or have someone buy you a ticket or rent it.
Thats not to bad, but yeah. Bye Bye carnage.
what no carnage well i can bye punisher for 5 or 9 bucks but rated R i dont know what would be in it!
You'll just see some blood and some people getting their face being punched in for a sec, it's just a bit graphic. Oh and Jigsaw's brother eating a man's kidney...
there could still be a Deadpool movie, even a good Punisher movie. there is alot of violence in some PG-13 movies it just doesnt show alot of blood and show the person being killed close up like you would in R movies. If they can make Wolverine PG-13 im sure they can do Deadpool. And just because theres no more R movies doesnt mean there wont be Carnage, marvel would never make an R rated Spider-Man movie. so if they want to do Carnage they will have to tone him down
Agreed.
