Comic book artist Mark Teixeira made the trip to this year’s Emerald City Comic Con to meet with fans and catch up with old friends. Mark took some time to talk about what we can expect from him this year.
Mark is working with Scott Gimple (writer of ABC’s FlashForward) on a five-part Punisher series for Marvel called Punisher: Nightmares featuring a brand new villain, Johnny Nightmare. The story follows the Punisher as he tries to help out a fellow Marine, but things go a bit off course in typical Punisher style, as the guy he’s been protecting turns on him. Mark has finished issue #4, and showed some pages on his computer that had been colored by Frank D'Armata that look fantastic. A few shots show Johnny Nightmare wearing an inside-out Punisher outfit, so it will be interesting to see how that plays into the story. Mark said he should be done with issue #5 by June, so he expects the book to be out this year.
Mark said he is continuing his relationship with Wizards of the Coast, and is currently working on the second part of his Path of the Planeswalker tale.
Mark also mentioned that Dark Horse had stopped by his booth to discuss the possibility of doing some Conan covers, a character that Mark loves, so keep an eye out for that as well.
