Product Backstory
Thanos was born on the Titan moon of Saturn, one of the last sons of the original Eternals colonists Mentor and Sui-San. Compared to the other Eternals, Thanos was misshapen and monstrous and grew into a melancholy, brooding individual, consumed with the concept of death. More than any of his people, Thanos sought out personal power and increased strength, endowing himself with cybernetic implants until he became more powerful than any of his brethren. For unconfirmed reasons, he was exiled from the colony, growing in power and infamy as he traveled the universe.
Thanos once met Mistress Death herself. Thanos was infatuated with the being, and endeavored to make himself worthy in order to earn her love in return. He would make many attempts to earn her favor, and his destructive bids for Mistress Death's attention threw him into conflict with the heroic Avengers, Captain Marvel, and even Thor, all the while his power and anger growing. In time, Thanos would come to regard himself as a death god and began to carry out his destructive acts in his own name, rather than in tribute to Mistress Death.
