Product Backstory
With his identity as Iron Man exposed, Tony Stark now faces government pressure to share his Iron Man armor technology with the military. Fearing that his powerful invention will be corrupted, Stark is unwilling to hand over the Iron Man technology and comes under scrutiny with the press. His own health begins to crumble amid the defamation, and Stark returns to his old playboy ways, appointing his once-assistant Pepper Potts as CEO of Stark Industries and hiring a young woman named Natalie Rushman as his new gal Friday. After several threats and near-devastating incidents, Stark's friendships begin to crumble.
When an intoxicated Stark dons the Iron Man suit and finally goes too far, Marine Lieutenant James "Rhodey" Rhodes, an old friend, meets him head-on wearing an alternate version of the armor known as War Machine. The two battle it out, War Machine eventually subduing Iron Man and leaving his old friend behind, disgraced. But when a new enemy threatens to destroy Stark Expo, killing thousands, Iron Man and War Machine team up to defeat the villain known as Whiplash.
