2011 NYCC: Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance Panel Highlights

2011 NYCC: Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance Panel Highlights

Outsiders - October 15, 2011
The "Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance" panel aired live earlier today at the New York Comic-Con. The Moderator was IGN Movies Editor in Chief Eric Moro with Director Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine. The new film will be hitting theaters in 2D and 3D on February 17th, 2012 and below are transcript highlights from the panel.

The full trailer for "Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance" would be the first 3D trailer.

Dave Sardy, composer of "Zombieland", is doing the music for the film.

A red-band behind the scenes featurette for Ghost Rider was shown. It showed the set with Mark Neveldine on rollerblades being dragged by motorcylces and trucks and doing all The footage ended with "Fucking Your Shit Up in 3D!" The clip also showed Mark Neveldine hanging from wires with a camera shooting a stuntman and there's a lot of wild shots where the guys are doing crazier stunts than the actors.

Mark said that someone actually broke bones while shooting one of the stunts and it's in the movie.

"We never had a 2nd Unit director cause that's the most fun so why would we have someone else do it?" -- Brian.

"We just wanted to break cameras, and break stuntguys and break our own necks." - Brian

"The danger feels real than it will come across better in the film. They want to do as much real as possible rather than rely on CG." = Brian

New extended trailer was shown and hopefully it will be released next week or maybe this weekend on Youtube?

A lot more footage of the Ghost Rider who doesn't look even remotely CG

Ghost Rider has someone hooked on his chain and throws him up in the air then pulls him back to earth.

Brian says that the movie won't relate to the first movie so much... that it's not a reboot or a sequel but it's four years later and he has to be redeemed "which is what happens when Idris Elba comes knocking on his door."

They are trying to do a darker, meaner, nastier version of the character.

They're calling it a "PG-16" movie and they found ways around the MPAA... they say they have lots of F-bombs and bodies everywhere.

Favorite stunt was shooting Nicolas Cage 40 feet in the air at 40 Miles per hour.

They've been wanting to shoot in 3D for a long time but when they went into movie, they didn't think they could get the shots they wanted using 3D rigs, but they realized that post conversion is as good as you make it. Brian is saying that not all post-conversion is bad and that you just have to use it properly and they're putting a lot of time into making the 3D great.

They have gotten away from the chopper to a sports bike because they couldn't do the same stunts on a chopper. "Anything he touches or rides, it becomes hellified and he uses a lot of different vehicles."
