Avengers Toys Found At Retail

UPDATE: Apparently movie figures have in fact started hitting shelves as well as comic series.

It would seem that Hasbro's line of 3.75" Avengers toys have started to hit retail shelves. According to tsweet over at the ToyArk fourms, he found some at his local Toys R' Us store. He took some pictures of a Iron Man Dive Bomb figure which you can check out below and said they also had figures for Captain America, Hulk and Thor. These particular figures fall under Hasbro's "Comic Series" which means they aren't actually based on anything in the Avengers movie. The figures based on the actual movie characters probably won't see release til a little bit closer to the actual Avengers movie release. You can check out some images of the actual figures based on the movie Hasbro plans to release here.

"Marvel's The Avengers" assemble in theaters on May 4, 2012.

I don't think there's anything "exclusive" about it, TRU Canada was pretty much just the only online retailer that has bothered to put up their pre-orders yet. According to that press release, pre-orders "begin" today, so I imagine BBTS and the rest of the online stores will start listing them any time now.

so, were these pre orders canadian exclusive? (link)

saw these @ TRU in california. the only one worth getting is Ultimate Thor to tell you the truth, they are all $9.99 at TRU.

Ultimate thor though is smaller than even the movie thors...it is really disappointing.

Doing a layered overlay from the product shots provided by TRU online, the Ultimate Thor at the very least is taller than the movie Thor. You can see in the picture below where lined up the packaging and Ultimate Thor is a smidge taller. Now, you could propose he is that much taller if their feet are identically lined up in the packaging. It is difficult to see in the overlay, but if you examine the feet placement in the packaging for both, it also appear that movie Thor's feet are set IN packaging higher that Ultimate Thor, which means he is that much taller as well. I have two overlay pics below, one with lines drawn out from top of head and bottom of foot. Green is Ultimate Thor and Red is Movie Thor.

It's still a problem with masked hero movies, isn't it? How to show the actor's face enough, when all the cool things he does are done when the mask is on?

PushYouDown - 2012-01-27 @ 7:37 am

Going by the action stills they've released looks like he doesn't have the mask for most of the movie.

cant believe we're getting an unmasked head

Geez they are seriously going to try charging 11.00 for single carded basic figures?

Yikes.

ETA- of that's Canadian prices. Ok.
