"Marvel's The Avengers" obliterated any and all competition at the US Box Office for the third week in a row. It easily held off newcomers "Batttleship" and "The Dictator". "Marvel's The Avengers" took in an estimated $55 million while Hasbro's "Battleship" opened at the number 2 spot with an estimated take of $25.3 million and Sacha Baron Cohen's "The Dictator" opened at number 3 with an estimated take of $17.4 million.

"Marvel's The Avengers" has now become the largest grossing film of all-time for Disney with a current take of $1,180,378,000 worldwide. On the domestic front, it has brought in an estimated $457,078,000, ranking the 6th largest grossing film in the US. In the next several days the movie is expected to surpass "Star Wars", and by the end of the month it could beat out "The Dark Knight Returns" for 3rd place.
