Hasbro Marvel Legends And Other 6" Lines Price Hike For 2021?!?

by Jay Cochran
January 11, 2021
With a new year upon us, it seems like the dreaded price increase for Hasbro's 6" action figure lines is also upon us as well. Earlier today we were treated to our first Marvel Legends pre-order for 2021, and with that many couldn't help but notice the increase in price from the normal $19.99 to $22.99.

I've been doing some checking, and while not officially confirmed by Hasbro yet, this price increase seems to be for all Marvel Legends releases as well as other 6" lines like Hasbro's Star Wars Black Series. I haven't checked on every single 6" line Hasbro does, or other scales of figures from Hasbro, so I can't say for sure how it will impact things like Power Ranger, G.I. Joe Classified or even smaller scale lines or things like Transformers. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see some kind of price hike all across the board.

From what I can tell you should expect to see prices increase with products seeing release around July time frame.

While seeing prices increase is never a good thing, it should also be noted that Hasbro has held off on increasing their prices for these things for several years, and truth is the prices only go up on these things, not down.

I also don't know what kind of impact these price hikes will have at the big box stores like Walmart and Target. Those stores often are given discounts the smaller guy doesn't get, just because they order so much more inventory, and they could likely take on a price increase without raising prices on the consumer, at least for a while just to try and thin out the competition. Small retailers don't have that luxury, so this kind of thing tends to hurt them more than the larger stores. We will have to wait and see how all this plays out.

If I ever find them I will. The only two I remember for sure that I bought at that time were Megatron and a box set of the Constructions.

I know Constructicon boxsets are a favourite for Knock-Offs, Megatron not as much

Oh yeah, I forgot to include those! I've had to resort to making my own dios over the years as Hasbro seems to be adverse to doing them. Losing millions of $$ imo. I'd rather plunk down $350 on a 2ftx2ft sq destroyed city block type dio that includes a couple of 6' scale destroyed vehicles than 1 giant figure.. Don't have to be full sided buildings, just front & few inches of the sides, bout 12'-16- tall & made to snap together so you can disassemble them for storage or moving elsewhere. Make em outta solid polystyrene or pvc.

Wow, didn't realize you made those dios yourself. Awesome!

Sadly given my limited space, most of my collections are in plastic boxes. If you aren't sure you could check to see if they have the Hasbro/Takra mark and date or a rubsign depending on the year/toy

Plus you got some awesome dios and custom marvel figures (like those classic sentinels you were showing off, in a good way, a week or two ago).

Man I wish I could see that! The problem with my old Transformers would be knowing which ones are authentic. I know a few of them I picked up in Taiwan as a kid in the early 90s. Looking back I'm pretty sure all of those were probably knockoffs.

Between comic based good guys and villains, I probably have close to 120ish ML figs total. And I've been collecting Hasbro ML line since 2014-15'.

Wish I still had vintage stuff. Could still be in my parents attic. Could have lost a lot of it with all the moving growing up a military brat. As a kid in the 80's I had GI Joe, Transformers, Star Wars, and Voltron just to make a few.

I haven't bought any Classified yet but I do have Flint and Lady Jaye pre ordered. I have literally over a hundred 25th and maybe half that in vintage betweenfiguresandvehicles. They're seriously the most addictive toyline I collect, lol.
