If only they could bring Art Adams back, it would have been real game changer, but I guess he isnt interested doing full comic books anymore and hes already busy with cover art for Amazing Spider-Man.
The Fantastic Four are a family comic and by revisiting this iteration of the group. It takes away the charm the comic has going for it. Like Fantastic Four: Life Story, by removing the core characteristic of the comic. It just does not feel like a F4 comic.
It seems that Marvel has nearly fully realized that their characters/costumes/stories from the 90s were far more loved than those of today. More and more I see Marvel trying to harken back to this era in their current comics; 90s teams, 90s costumes, continuing and expanding on 90s story lines, even many of the variant covers(for x-men especially) are bringing back the nostalgia of the 90's in an attempt to increase sales.
Maybe it's because I grew up in the 90s (i'm 35) and was first introduced to most of these characters at that time; but 90's marvel will always be my favorite and the definitive versions of the characters. The more they've changed the characters in the years since, the less interested I've become in them. I stopped buying new comics entirely about 4-5 years ago. I now find myself buying back issues from the 90s and omnibuses with reprinted stories from that era and earlier.
Unfortunately, it seems many of the more recent changes are coming as a push from Disney after they took over. It's too bad really.
Well, at least there's plenty of older stories to go back and re-read.
