With a few new pieces having come to light for Hasbro's Marvel Legends plans for 2013 at the NYCC, we thought we would go ahead and go over everything we know as fact up to this point. Much of this information was originally announced last summer at the San Diego Comic Con.
We know for 2013 Hasbro will be bringing the "Build-A-Figure" concept back in a small way. There will be three Marvel Legend waves released in 2013 and each wave will come with parts to build a "Mini" Build-A-Figure character. The only Build-A-Figure for 2013 to be confirmed by Hasbro so far is
Hit Monkey which will be released in the first wave of the year.
This is how the first wave will breakdown as revealed at SDCC.
2013 Wave 1 - Hit Monkey Series
- Ultimates Captain America
- X-Force Wolverine
- Iron Fist (White)
- Protector
- Sentry (Variant)
- Hyperion
- Archangel
- X-Force Archangel (Variant)
- Red She-Hulk
- Lyra (Variant)
- Hit Monkey (Build-A-Figure)
For
Wave 2 it was confirmed that we would see
Jean Grey (Jim Lee Version) and the
Wrecker with a
Bulldozer figure as a variant. Jean and Wrecker where shown, but not Bulldozer.
Other Marvel Legend figures confirmed as in the works for 2013 at SDCC by Hasbro but not confirmed for any particular wave were:
- A Newly sculpted
Moonstone from the Thunderbolts.
- A comic book version of
Iron Monger as a large Build-A-Figure. This figure would likely be released under the
Iron Man 3 banner and not the regular Marvel Legends line.
Finally last night at
Hasbro's pre-NYCC press event we got introduced to 3 more Marvel Legends figures for 2013. We
BELIEVE but
NOT 100% confirmed that these 3 figures will be part of the second wave for 2013. Those figures are
- Hawkeye
- Phoenix (Confirmed as Jean Grey)
- Black Panther
We
SPECULATE that
Moonstone and
Phoenix might share the same mold and that one might be the variant for the other. That however is just pure
SPECULATION on our part at this time.
UPDATE: We did a
closer comparison of the upcoming
Jim Lee style Jean and
Phoenix Jean and agree with many of you that one of these will likely be the variant for the other as opposed to Phoenix and Moonstone like we speculated earlier. Let us know what you think below.
Finally way back at last years NYCC, it was mentioned a Marvel Legends
Stryfe was in the works and at Toy Fair last year it was mentioned an
Ultimates Hawkeye was also in the works. We have no idea where these two fit into the scheme of things or if they are still even in the works. Since they were briefly mentioned by Hasbro though we wanted to mention them here as well.
