EW got a chance to talk with Avengers director Joss Whedon during an event at the SXSW Film Festival who admitted to them that the aliens who make up Loki's army in the movie are not the Skrulls or the Kree. He went on to say that both of these aliens have such tremendous back story that it would have been pretty difficult to fit them in this movie which already has so much going on.
As to who the aliens are??? That still remains a mystery. Who do you think they are?
